Mark Crosling
Founder, Haven AI
Mark Crosling founded Haven AI after watching a private Slack community for content marketers and copywriters go quiet over 18 months. The wins came less often. The despair was almost never said out loud. By early 2025 the group closed, and the people who'd leaned on each other had nowhere left to go.
He spent six months researching the private struggles of 2,800+ freelancers — work that's since grown into Haven AI's 8,300+ quote VOC database spanning 8 occupation families and 13 coaching modules. What he found was consistent across every family: freelancers were facing two identity threats at once. AI disruption that threatened what they do, and invisible employee conditioning that shaped who they are. Nobody was addressing either at the identity level. The patterns he named from that research — the impossible bind chief among them — are now part of how freelancers describe what AI is doing to their work.
Haven AI launched in March 2026 as a voice-based AI coach that uses Socratic questioning — not advice, not formulas — to help freelancers see what they can't see alone. Ariel, the AI coach inside Haven, remembers every conversation across months, available at 2 AM when the anxiety peaks. The bet underneath the product: you can't fix patterns you can't see, and the most underexplored axis of AI coaching is persistent memory plus the right questions over time. Those patterns are catalogued as they emerge in Haven AI's glossary of freelance AI concepts.
